Fully composite substation gantry is completely composed of composite post insulators, and the composite hollow insulators with smaller width and lower height between layers are connected in series to form beams to realize the function of entering and exiting lines.
The traditional substation gantries adopt all-steel structures or cement-combined steel structures, and they have mechanical defects such as heavy weight, being prone to rust or cracking. There are also problems like wide gantry corridors, excessive height, large floor area, difficulties in transportation and installation. Moreover, faults and accidents such as jumper wind deviation discharge are likely to occur.
Since its commissioning in September 2010, the substation structure at the Jingmen ±500kV Converter Station has demonstrated excellent operational performance with zero incidents of flashover or tripping, confirming its structural safety and reliability.
In October 2020, the 330kV composite gantry substation structure successfully passed all electrical tests at the Wuhan High Voltage Research Institute, demonstrating the reliability of both its internal/external insulation systems and end-fitting designs.
In November 2020, the 330kV composite gantry substation structure successfully passed mechanical tests under all operational conditions at the Liangxiang Test Base of Beijing Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), verifying the reliability of its material selection and structural design.
