Chuxiong ±800kV HVDC Converter Station
The world's first ±800kV UHVDC transmission project — a historic breakthrough marking China's transition from 0 to 1 in UHVDC technology. SHEMAR delivered 270 units in 2007. After 18 years of continuous operation under demanding conditions, every unit remains fully functional with zero quality abnormalities.

Changji ±1100kV UHVDC Converter Station
The world's first ±1100kV UHVDC project — highest voltage level, largest capacity, longest distance, and most advanced technology. SHEMAR delivered 1,267 units in 2016. After 9 years, zero quality abnormalities.

Liubei ±800kV HVDC Converter Station

Xiangjiaba–Shanghai DC±800kV UHVDC Project
1,107 SHEMAR units delivered in 2008. After 17 years of operation, all products continue to run reliably with zero quality abnormalities.

Jinping–Sunan DC±800kV UHVDC Project
SHEMAR was the first manufacturer of insulators used in extra-high tension composite insulator-on-chain configurations. 7,259 units delivered in 2011. 14 years of operation, zero quality abnormalities.
±400kV · 4,000m+ Altitude
DC±400kV Qinghai–Tibet Project
Commissioned in 2011, this is the world's highest-altitude HVDC project — situated at an average elevation exceeding 4,000m with a peak site at 5,213m. UV radiation is 4–5× normal intensity, with temperatures down to −37.6°C (−35.7°F). SHEMAR deployed 6,790 units. As of 2025, 15 years of continuous stable operation with zero failures.

1000kV AC Jingmen Substation
UHV hollow composite insulators maintain good appearance and high water-repellency. Mechanical, electrical, sealing, and material properties all meet standards with no significant degradation. Results confirm long-term reliability in UHV applications.
±800kV HVDC Jin-Su Project — Yulong Station
Overall mechanical and electrical performance equivalent to factory initial state. Silicone rubber material analysis confirms the product can meet a design service life of 30+ years.
500kV Yuntian Substation, Zhuzhou, Hunan
All indicators show no significant change after nearly 15 years of continuous operation. Analysis projects the insulator will meet requirements for 40+ years of total service.
±800kV HVDC Yu-Guang Project — Suidong Station
The selected 500kV composite insulators show good operating characteristics after 10 years of field service, confirming capability for long-term continuous operation.
±400kV DC Qinghai–Tibet Project
Electrical, mechanical, and material properties almost identical to factory initial state after 6 years under extreme conditions: UV intensity 4–5× normal, temperatures to −37.6°C (−35.7°F), highest altitude 5,213m.
±800kV DC Jinping–Sunan Project
Electrical, mechanical, and material properties remain essentially identical to the initial factory state after 12 years of operation under severe environmental conditions — strong proof of 40-year design life.
